Chautauqua Lake is one of the state’s top vacation destinations, and it offers some of the best muskie fishing in New York State. Muskies do well in this lake largely because of the excellent forage base available to them. Every year fish in excess of 50 inches are caught here. A fish of this size will commonly weigh over 35 pounds! The largest recorded muskie taken from Chautauqua Lake weighed 51 pounds, 3 ounces.
