At the village of Fabius, Fabius Brook runs through swampland. Below these swamps the stream channel is better defined, but the stream is heavily infested with beavers, and as a result, there are numerous beaver ponds. The stream itself widens out to 20 to 25 feet, has a silt and rubble bottom and is fairly slow moving and deep. It could be waded, but it is so slow and flat that ripples seem to go on forever, and as above Fabius, it is choked with alders.
